Reading the guide and using its tools

This is an educational website. It does not provide account registration, a contact form or payment checkout. Recipe-calculator settings, quiz answers and café-phrase selections are handled in your browser; they are not sent to our referral counter. You do not need to give us your name or email address to use these features.

When you email us

If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message and any name, attachments or other information you choose to include. We use this information to respond, address your request and keep relevant correspondence. Providing it is voluntary, although we may be unable to respond or resolve a request without enough information. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. Contacting us does not subscribe you to a mailing list.

Our referral click counter

When you click a tracked business link, our counter adds to a daily total for the destination, the section containing the link and the language version. Dates use Hong Kong time. The stored count files do not contain names, email addresses, IP addresses, browser details, cookies or unique visitor identifiers. They cannot identify who clicked and do not measure purchases or bookings; repeat clicks may count more than once.

These files are stored outside the publicly accessible website folder, with restricted file permissions. They are available to authorised hosting-account administrators and relevant service providers, rather than through a public statistics page. Featured businesses do not have access to these private files. We may share aggregate referral totals with a business to explain traffic sent to its website.

Hosting, logs and browser technologies

The website is hosted by GoDaddy. Server and security logs may record your IP address, browser information, requested pages or files, and request times to deliver the website, protect it and investigate errors. These logs are separate from our aggregate click counter.

GoDaddy also adds a monitoring script to served pages. Hosting-provided monitoring may collect technical or usage information and may use cookies or other browser technologies under the provider’s practices. Our custom counter itself does not set cookies. You can manage cookies and other site permissions in your browser; blocking scripts may affect interactive features.

Links to other websites

Some outgoing links include campaign tags, such as utm_source=hongkongstylemilktea.com, which identify this guide as the referral source. The tags do not include your name or email address. When you follow a link, the receiving website may obtain normal connection details and use its own analytics or cookies. Its privacy policy applies to its handling of that information, purchases, class bookings and newsletter subscriptions.

Access, storage and retention

People authorised to manage the guide and its enquiries, and hosting or email service providers, may process information as needed to operate the website or handle correspondence. Information may also be disclosed where required by law. Providers may process or store information outside Hong Kong.

We keep enquiry records only as long as needed to handle the enquiry, related follow-up and applicable legal obligations. Hosting-log retention depends on the hosting service and account configuration. Anonymous aggregate referral totals may be retained longer to compare activity over time; the current counter has no scheduled automatic deletion. We use HTTPS for the website and restricted access for the private count files.

Your requests and policy updates

You may contact us to ask whether we hold personal data about you, request access or correction, or ask for deletion where applicable. We may need limited information to confirm your identity before responding. Anonymous count files cannot be used to identify or retrieve an individual visitor’s clicks.

If our website or data practices change, we will update this page and its revision date.
